The Benefits of Wooden Privacy Fences
Wooden privacy fences are perfect for a variety of different purposes. Not only do they provide plenty of privacy, of course, they also look great and keep children and pets safe. The average privacy fence is anywhere from four to seven feet in height with an average being around six feet. There are no spaces in between the boards, which means people cannot see through them. In addition to making great boundaries for your entire yard, privacy fences are great for surrounding Jacuzzi and swimming pool areas. These fences look great, keep prying eyes away and may even add value to your property.
There are a variety of different styles of privacy fence that you can choose from. The picket style with slanted posts is traditional and attractive. Or, you can go with a fence with level tops and add decorative lattice on top for a stylish look. No matter what style fence you go for, you will want to use pressure treated wood to avoid damage from heat, light and moisture. Some people choose to paint their wooden fences while others like the natural wood look. Before even beginning to build your fence you will need to find out whether or not a permit is required.
You can find pre-fabricated panels which is much easier than installing each individual picket on its own. Of course, you will most likely pay more for this convenience. If you're looking for a cheap way to install your privacy fence, you may want to install each picket separately. The construction of a privacy fence is something that can be a do-it-yourself project. Of course, if you do not want to build your own fence you can hire a contracting company to do it for you.
Contrary to what many people think, contractors aren't always expensive. You might be able to find a small, locally owned company who may be willing to do the job for a very good price. Maybe you have a local handyman who specializes in odd jobs. If so, this may be a good route to go. Whether you are interested in building wooden privacy fences on your own or hiring someone to do the job for you, you will love the privacy and beauty that one of these fences provides.
